How to Avoid Scams

scam is when a fraudster tricks a player, typically into losing a ranked match, giving away Chips or - in some cases - real-world funds.

We take scamming very seriously and performing scamming could result in your account being banned, depending on how serious the offense is.

How to avoid being scammed

You can protect yourself against scammers by staying vigilant for the following identifiers:

  • Don't ever accept Chips from somebody who offers "free Chips," "Chip exchanges" or claims to be "selling Chips." Only ever get Chips from legitimate, in-game sources such as winnings from genuine games, purchasing them via The Shop & Stash, etc.
  • Look out for overly complicated processes which require you to do multiple things to receive a "reward"
  • Be wary if you are continually asked to hop between Ranked/Casual matches
  • Be cautious if you are asked by another player to bet higher amounts - or go all-in - in situations where you otherwise wouldn't
  • Beware of scammers working in teams, even if one player seems to be on your side or is telling you the other player can be "trusted," is "legit," etc.
  • Remember that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Be aware that those who make wild, unexpected promises most likely have malicious intentions

Reporting a scammer

If you encounter an in-game scammer, please report it to us. The more evidence you are able to provide in your report, the easier it will be for us to investigate and take appropriate action.

I've been scammed. Can you return my chips or provide some other compensation?

We're unable to reimburse any lost items or return your account to a prior state as ultimately account security is the responsibility of the account holder. The best action to take from here is to be aware of potential scams by reviewing the above information to prevent this happening again.
